Catherine Cornet is professor of MENA Studies at the American University of Rome. She holds her PhD from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris and University of Rome II. She holds a Master Degree in Middle Eastern Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, a diploma d’études politiques from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Aix-en-Provence and a Maitrise of Comparative Literature from the University of Provence.
For 15 years, she’s been active in the cultural field as a project manager of various Euro-Mediterranean projects. Her field of research concerns the role of private foundations in the assertion of an Arab renaissance and the development of innovative cultural expressions after 9/11. She works in parallel as a free lance journalist on Middle Eastern and cultural issues for French and Italian publications.
