The Hicham Alaoui Foundation’s biannual brainstorming took place on January 11-12, 2025 in Florence. Based on the conclusions of the May 2024 meeting in Sarajevo, the seminar participants discussed the consequences of the war at the regional level, including in the analysis the recent fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria.
If external spoilers could be activated to jeopardize the Syrian transition, the participants underlined the symbolic and model importance of Syria for the entire region while we note an ever-widening disconnect between public opinions and governments of the region.
